Main scientific results by INP BSU staff in 2011 in the field of fundamental scientific research
Effect of multiple volume reflection of negatively charged high-energy particles in bended single crystals, which was predicted by V.V. Tikhomirov, was observed. The experiment was carried out in CERN jointly with the group from University of Ferrara (Italy) with support from The National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN).
Electromagnetic response of multiwall nanotubes with finite length was studied in subterahertz and terahertz frequency range. It was shown, that strong depolarizing field of outer layers of CNT shields inner layers; the depth of penetration of field depends on the frequency, length of the CNT and time of electron relaxation. It was proposed to use the effect of such strong shielding in interconnects based on multiwall nanotube, where inner metallic shells are used for transmission of signals, and outer layers – for shielding of inner layers from external parasite fields.
